I have the following problem. When display goes to sleep (Ubuntu called it “blank screen”) and is sleeping for more than just a few minutes, I try to wake it up (keyboard/mouse click) and it does, but the only thing it shows is a cursor. If I move cursor around it changes its shape according to window it’s on, but the windows and everything else are not shown.
My setup: Ubuntu 20.04.2 but installed according to instructions for “root on zfs”. For some reason it has older kernel than the official installer (5.4.0-77 instead of 5.8). But I tried with official installer and problem persisted. GPUs are two Nvidia Titan RTX cards. I tried Nvidia driver 460 and 465 (latest) – no difference. I reinstalled Ubuntu from scratch and no other software – same thing. Also I have another identical system (including software) but with two Nvidia 2080 Ti cards and that system has no such problem. It may be irrelevant but both systems have Asus Zenith II Extreme Alpha motherboard and AMD 3990X CPUs.
This is very annoying and I’m out of ideas. I wanted to try setting “automatic suspend” shorter than “blank screen” but in my experience “automatic suspend” not always work, it’s not reliable.
Appreciate any suggestions.
