Ubuntu not recognising my Huaweu E3372h Dongle - am I using modeswitch correctly?

cn flag

How to use usb.modeswtich to turn my 4G dongle from mass storage mode to modem mode?

I have had this problem before and asked the above question, it worked on my Raspberry Pi.

Now that I'm trying to do the same on my Ubuntu machine, I have had no luck.

lsusb

Show my modem as 12d1:14db Huawei Technologies

ifconfig

Shows my dongle as eth1 which was correct last time...

When I follow the instructions in the post, there are only 2 files within /etc/udev/rules.d/ so I have to create a 41-huawei_e3372.rules file but this doesn't do anything. Not sure where I am going wrong here

TIA

Are you sure it needs modeswitch and/or special rules? Last time I remember using it was more than a decade ago.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
