When I run this command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ethereum/ethereum

I get this error:

LSB codename: 'focal'.
This codename isn't currently supported.
Please check your LSB information with "lsb_release -a".

how can I fix it guys?

I did lsb_release -a and got this output, if it helps

LSB Version: core-11.1.0ubuntu2-noarch:security-11.1.0ubuntu2-noarch
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
Release: 20.04
Codename: focal

Can't reproduce on fresh 20.04.2 LTS VM. What are specifics of your Ubuntu system? Which desktop do you have? Is it a server without GUI? How your Ubuntu was installed?

Strange. I looked at https://launchpad.net/~ethereum/+archive/ubuntu/ethereum/+packages and a package was uploaded July 22 this year, only one week ago. What happens if you try again? Are you running a standard Intel/AMD PC (amd64 architecture)?

@sudodus I got AMD 5950X, so AMD 64 I think

OK. What happens if you try again? (Maybe it was a temporary error.)

If still no luck, try to contact the Ethereum team's admins via mail. There is a button for that on this web page: https://launchpad.net/~ethereum. (I know PPAs because I manage ppa:mkusb/ppa, but I know nothing about Ethereum and its software.)

By the way, please run `sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade` to get an up to date system, and try again to add the Etherium PPA.

Same error, no luck. I will try to mail them, thank you.

Can you use any repository at all? Do `sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade` work? Can you install 'my' PPA? `sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mkusb/ppa; sudo apt install mkusb usb-pack-efi`

Update and upgrade work, but not the second command. I read this answer, it makes a bit sense but not working for me https://askubuntu.com/questions/1112912/fingerprint-gui-in-18-04

I Did install CInnamon, and it was bugged. When I try to login in Linux, i just get black screen. SO I uninstalled Cinnamon, and now I have KDE Plasma. I agree with him, cinnamon is probably causing this, but I tried the solution he mentioned, still same error. In my case, the codename is "focal"

So, for some reason you cannot use any PPA? Is there some PPA now in your system? You should see it in the output of `sudo apt update | grep ppa`. In that case uninstall whatever programs depend on those PPAs and then remove the PPAs by `sudo add-apt-repository -r ppa:mkusb/ppa` (and the corresponding for each PPA).

But do not spend too much time on this. Often it is better (easier and faster) to **backup** your personal files and whatever settings you have in your system (copy to another drive), and after that make a **fresh installation** and restore the backed up files. (Linux is fast to install, update and upgrade compared to Windows.)

I mainly only have my python environment that I need to backup. In windows, I can just backup files, not the installed softwares and some settings etc. Can I do that in Linux sir? @sudodus thanks for your help btw. I get the same error when running the remove command also. Yeah, cant install any PPA

In Linux you there are several levels of backup, from nothing, via the level you have in Windows, personal settings (hidden files in your home directory), system settings, lists of installed programs, to the maximum, which is 'everything', cloning from the whole drive to a compressed image, that can be restored to a perfect copy of the cloned system. You decide what you need. The important thing is to remember to run the backup or to make it automatic, and to check that it really works to restore from the backup.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
