I checked the GLIBC on Ubuntu 18.04

camunda-modeler-4.9.0 : July 12, 2021.

There is a two month older version, which runs OK with Ubuntu 18.04 : camunda-modeler-4.8.1-linux-x64.tar.gz https://downloads.camunda.cloud/release/camunda-modeler/4.8.1/camunda-modeler-4.8.1-linux-x64.tar.gz : May 12, 2021 .

Your post shows ldd (Ubuntu GLIBC 2.27-3ubuntu1.4) 2.27

The error says: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found

Try:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libc6

(newest version here for me is 2.31-0ubuntu9.2)

As a workaround you could fall back to an older modeler version as mentioned in one of the comments: https://downloads.camunda.cloud/release/camunda-modeler/4.8.1/camunda-modeler-4.8.1-linux-x64.tar.gz
