Have ASUS PRO55 laptop, has been running ubuntu 15.04 which was loaded from a DVD. Have been trying to load 21.04 from a usb stick. The process starts but stops at a purple screen with nothing on it but a mouse pointer. I can move the pointer around with the mouse but it does nothing. Left and right clicks do nothing. I created the usb stick myself, following on-line instructions, and using a new 32gb stick. I didn't format the stick first, assuming it to be ready formatted. Any suggestions? I'll keep trying.

Did you verify your ISO before writing to your installation media? (https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-how-to-verify-ubuntu#0) Given 15.04 was from years ago (2015-April release), is the hardware fully functional? (esp. DVD drive), is the architecture compatible with your device? Note: booting from DVD can take a *long* time; USB devices are far faster... Also note some thumb-drives can take 11 mins to boot 21.04 in *live* mode; that 11 mins is far longer if using a DVD (the slowness is just booting *live* media due to bug in some devices firmware; once installed it's fast)

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
