Network unreachable, stuck on 169.254

cn flag

I changes ISPs yesterday and every device seems to function normally, except for my Ubuntu computer. The router is dual-band (2.4 and 5ghz), but the access points have different names.

When I connect to either access point, I'm online for a few seconds until most websites (some exceptions: Google, part of Outlook) become unreachable (ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE on Chrome).

The wireless adpater is a QCA6174 8012.11ac from Qualcomm Atheros.

I noticed that sometimes I'm stuck with a 169.254.. IP. In my router's settings, the device is listed without a hostname (the MAC address and the 169.* IP are reported, though):

When I'm connected to the network (right when I do it):

$ hostname -I

When I'm not connected to any network:

Look at the logs! `sudo journalctl -b 0 -u NetworkManager`. Read `man journalctl`.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
