Can't unlock the default keyring

ch flag

Ububtu 20.04 LTS

If I enter my user account password to unlock the default keyring, it is rejected. I'm fairly sure I never set a different password but, just in case, I deleted the keyring thus:

rm ~/.local/share/keyrings/login.keyring

Even after doing that the user account password still doesn't work. How might I solve this?

what version of Ubuntu ? 20.04 ? ... update your question with this important detail ... any recent release has solved this issue which I remember seeing on much earlier releases

Do not assume *you* know the cause of the problem. Instead, describe specifically what you do as a user, what you see and what you expect to see. This will allow others to make a diagnosis, which might happen to be different than yours.

@vanadium: The original question in no way suggests that I know what the cause is ( I don't) and is quite specific, viz. I enter my account password into the 'unlock keyring' dialog and it is rejected. I really don't know what I could add to that might help.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
