Show progress or time elapsed when erasing disk with hdparm

ng flag

I'm erasing a bunch of disks using hdparm with the following commands:

wipefs -a /dev/sdX
hdparm --user-master u --security-set-pass asdf /dev/sdX
time hdparm --user-master u --security-erase asdf /dev/sdX

Is there a way to view the current progress on the erase command? Even just a timer that shows the current time elapsed would help, since hdparm -I gives an ETA on how long it would take.

Currently, hdparm shows no progress. At least when I use the time command it tells me how long it takes when done, but I would like to view the estimated progress (does not need to be exact).

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
