Hello and welcome to askubntu community, Please clarify your question: what OS are you running? what PC do you have? how are you trying to open the terminal and what is happening when you are trying to.

Please confirm all the information in the other comment - and I assume by terminal you mean the Linux command line rather than the Python interpreter? It’s hard to see how those commands would prevent the CLI from opening. If it’s really not, try rebooting and then post exactly what happens when you try to open it.

You can break gnome-terminal by changing the system's python3 version - see for example [Terminal not opening up after upgrading python to 3.7](https://askubuntu.com/questions/1132349/terminal-not-opening-up-after-upgrading-python-to-3-7)

@steeldriver - thanks for that - looks like a useful solution in the link too.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
