Ubuntu had my trash recovered after reinstalling

ec flag

So I removed Ubuntu from my computer and installed Windows 11. I didn't empty my trash before I removed ubuntu.

After that, I reinstalled Ubuntu, but, the trash had items in it?! I open the trash and saw my files that I trashed on my past installation of Ubuntu.

Can somebody explain to me how this works, please?

It doesn't happen unless you reinstalled Ubuntu in the same partition without formatting said partition and reused the same username and password.

Do you have a separate /home partition that was not impacted by the sequence of removals/installations of Ubuntu/Windows?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
