I have a problem that occurred when attempting to Upgrade from Ubuntu 20.04.02 LTS to 20.04.03 LTS .
But the thing is, this only happened on one of my laptops. On the other laptop the upgrade procedure was smooth effortless . The ‘good’ laptop is an HP Stream PC-11, 2 GB RAM, Intel Celeron N2840.
The machine I am having difficulty with is a Samsung 9 Series NP900X3D model Laptop (aka New Note 9).
On this laptop, on restarting after installing the upgrade, it could not boot the new system and I was only shown a blank, dark screen.
It’s been working flawlessly for years with Ubuntu as the sole operating system.
After getting nowhere I installed 20.04.03 LTS from a USB, which wiped out the previous system.
Then, with this ’new’ install, I started using the software - including Libre Office, Text editor, Terminal. Everything worked.
I checked for updates using Sytem Update, was informed there were many required and I clicked OK and the update loaded effortlessl. Once the updated system files had finished loading I restarted as prompted. And exactly the same situation occurred - a blank, dark screen on restart.
I have re-installed 20.04.03 LTS from a USB.
In effect, I have a laptop that I cannot update.
Can anyone please advise me how to get this fixed?
