If I choose "Revert to" menu item on the Ubuntu Grub boot menu, is that irreversible?

I'm using Ubuntu 21.10 with ZFS full-disk encryption. When I boot up, I'm presented with these options (in Grub):

Ubuntu 21.10
Advanced options for Ubuntu 21.10
History for Ubuntu 21.10
EUFI Firmware Settings

If I choose "History for Ubuntu 21.10", I am presented with options like these:

Revert to 15/10/21 @ 12:14
Revert to 15/10/21 @ 11:22
Revert to Ubuntu 21.04 on 15/10/21 @ 08:46
Revert to Ubuntu 21.05 on 14/10/21 @ 17:25

If I select one of these options, I get presented these options:

Revert system only
Revert system and user data
Revert system only (recovery mode)
Revert system and user data (recovery mode)

My question is: what happens when I select one of the revert options? Will the filesystem be reverted to an older state irreversibly? Can I go back to the newer state?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
