HP Pavilion 15 CS1 Black screen without nomodeset

jp flag

I've been trying to get my screen to work without using nomodeset. With nomodeset I'm unable to use my second screen or use any graphics options such as brightness.

With nomodeset disabled my laptop display is completely black, my second screen connected through HDMI is working however, and running xrandr gives me a connected eDP-1 and HDMI-1. I've tried changing the display size of eDP-1 to 1600x900 or 1280x720 and change the refreshrate but to no avail. I've also tried FN+F3 or F3 to increase brightness but it remains black.

Specs:

  • PC: HP Pavilion 15-CS1
  • CPU: Intel i5-8265U
  • Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 620
  • System: Ubuntu 20.04.3
  • Kernel: 5.11.0-37-generic

Any settings I can change to get the screen to work?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
