Context: I'm running ubuntu 18.04.2. I went to some effort to configure headless remote access to this machine, unfortunately one of the side effects of the xorg.conf changes is that I now don't get output to a monitor nor can I use the mouse and keyboard on my install with a monitor plugged in. But I had remoted in and everything was going swell - until I thought I had better shut off wifi power saving. Well, the woefully labelled toggle wasn't wifi power saving, it shut off wifi. Now I'm locked out. I tried plugging a lan cable in and for some reason I still couldnt connect, but I had never tested the onboard lan drivers so they may be screwed. I can boot from livecd fine though - my question is:
How can I set my main installations wifi to be enabled again, using the livecd instance? I can get to the primary instance filesystem from the livecd - does anyone know where the settings for wifi enablement live on the filesystem? obviously commands on the livecd are not persistant - but surely the setting for the wifi on/off toggle is set in some config file somewhere?
All my googling for this issue just shows a lot of stuff about enabling wifi on the livecd instance, which doesn't help me. I dont want to reinstall as getting my installation to this point was a lot of work.
Any help is appreciated!
