I use my bluetooth headphones with my laptop all the time. This morning, for no apparent reason, I cannot route audio through them. Even though every indication suggests it should be working, the audio still only played through the speakers (at an especially low volume for some reason).
I tried disabling bluetooth and re-enabling it, even at the BIOS level, then unpairing the headset and repairing the headset over and over. It pairs and connects fine, but doesn't play audio.
I tried changing the audio quality to HSP/HFP and back to A2DP. The change is definitely taking affect because I can hear the typical static from the mic, but no audio is routed through the headphones.
I tried disabling my Sound Input Chooser Gnome Extension (https://github.com/kgshank/gse-sound-output-device-chooser), but that made no difference.
I tried installing Blueman and using that to configure the headset, but that didn't help either.
Finally, the only thing that got it working was disabling my internal mic and speakers through my laptop's BIOS. When I did that, the headphones worked just as good as they always have.
I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 21.10, but everything has worked fine for a few days since then.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
