Install Ubuntu 20.04

Yesterday I decided to install ubuntu as win10 keeps giving me problems.

So I worked out how to install it and it worked fine.

I then tried to partition the 1tb hdd into 2 sections.

That I could not figure out.

So I thought it must be easier to reinstall and partition the hdd at this point.

So I did another install and made the partitions, which are working fine, the partitions that is.

Now Ubutu will not install. I have tried it three times, and it goes through the process and then fails at the end.

So this morning I thought maybe it needs formatting completely.

That is in the process now; I am only formatting the boot partition which is 200GB.

Any advice on this would be appreciated as I am new to Ubuntu.

Thanks

Forgot to say that it reports lots of errors while it is first checking before I choose Try or Install. Try works fine, Install fails.

Unfortunately it’s very hard to understand where you are from the information provided. (1) are you planning just Ubuntu or dual boot?; (2) have you got backups, ie can you start from scratch; (3) what did you do differently between the installation that worked and the one that doesn’t?; (4) if you’re ‘new to Ubuntu’, are you sure you’re happy using? At least give it a good trial with a live session (‘try Ubuntu’) before committing and removing windows. If you can give some more information, I’ll try to answer in a helpful way but currently I can’t offer much of use I’m afraid.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
