gnome-panel using 14% cpu (gnome-flashback)

rs flag

This relates to a prior question (Ubuntu 20.04 gnome-shell continual 20% CPU usage). I am using 20.04 on an AMD 4-core (8 fixed point core) desktop. I use gnome-flashback. gnome-panel is using 14.2% continuously. I have read that the system monitor is to blame. I'm just wondering whether any developers are working to make this app any more efficient. It takes 14% of a cpu just to check on the cpu? At any rate, the monitor is useful, so I would like to keep it as part of my panel.

Bug reports are [off-topic](https://askubuntu.com/help/on-topic) on Ask Ubuntu. If you would like this issue fixed, please [file a bug report](https://askubuntu.com/questions/5121/how-do-i-report-a-bug) through appropriate channels. Developers rely on bug reports to identify issues and gather information so that bugs can be resolved. Asking here is not productive since developers do not use Ask Ubuntu to identify or fix bugs.

In the meantime, you may consider using a different resource monitor if the bug is so bad that it interferes with using the device or if you are unsatisfied with the application's "weight" in resources.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
