Can't turn on ubuntu

ls flag

I use ubuntu 18.04. Earlier today I shut my laptop down during an update and, whenever I turn it back on, I see this:

Boot Screen

I did shutdown while an update using the software updater. It was searching for updates. The updates started and I turned off the computer. Can you guys pls help me with this?? Does this have anything to do with the recovery mode in GRUB??

Just to confirm, you shut the computer off *during* a software update?

Try the following. Open a TTY shell (`ctrl + alt + f3`), login with your username and password, and run the command `sudo apt update && sudo dpkg --configure -a && sudo apt dist-upgrade` (connect to the internet using USB tethering from your phone). That could fix the broken update.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
