A program cannot open my display

in flag

I have an HP Pavilion 23 all in one PC. When I tried to launch GIMP it said it cannot open the display. Why? I'm using Windows Subsystem and this is the only app I've tried to launch.

WSL1 or WSL2? At least for WSL1, there is no built-in support for GUI programs - you need to use a 3rd party X server. See for example [What's the easiest way to run GUI apps on Windows Subsystem for Linux as of 2018?](https://askubuntu.com/questions/993225/whats-the-easiest-way-to-run-gui-apps-on-windows-subsystem-for-linux-as-of-2018)

I would like to thank all who contributed. I finally got it to work.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
