I want to do a clean reinstall of 20.04

cn flag

I just installed Ubuntu 20.04 -- dual-boot -- but there are some problems, and I'd like to do a clean reinstall. I originally installed ubuntu from a live usb. But when I power off, insert the usb, and power on again, I get the grub boot installer, with no option to reinstall. And if I boot directly into ubuntu there seems to be no reinstall option within ubuntu.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Does this answer your question? [Why Doesn't a Bootable USB Boot](https://askubuntu.com/q/1190764/)

On a number of boxes I use; I need to hit a key in order to boot external media (such as thumb-drive). The key that needs to be pressed varies on box (different for dell, hp, lenovo, sony etc & sometimes even models); but if no re-install option is offered when you boot the *live* media; just use *Something else*, select your partitions & don't format them, to cause the system to be re-installed.

The way to "reinstall" is exactly the same way you did for the original installation, except now you already have all the partitions that can be reused. So, just select "something else" and then select all the required partitions including the ESP (EFI System Partition). Very likely you'll find only root (/) and that's all, select that as root and tick format. The end result is completely new installation. If that solves the other issues remainf¡s to be seen (likely not).

FYI: The variation in *format* between what I suggested (no-format) & what @ChanganAuto suggested (format) is just a variation of the type of install; I was suggesting an *unclean* install, ChanganAuto prefers a *clean* install. Each has pros & cons..

@guiverc The OP asked for a *clean* install ;) but yes, they probably should be asking about the "some problems" instead.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
