Need to use recovery mode to boot when I change kernel

cn flag

I have setup a VMware with Ubuntu 20.04 and my kernel version is 5.4.

I download kernel version 4.4 and write some simple system call.

And then compile and install to my system.

When I boot with kernel 4.4,it stuck before login screen show.

I even can't change to tty1~7

But in recovery mode and resume normal boot,I can get to the login screen with no error.

And my system call work fine.

So I assume that my system call is not reason for cause this problem.

And I check the journalctl -b and fix some error but not work with this problem

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
