Why won't Ubuntu 20.04 resume from suspend?

cn flag

I have Ubuntu 20.04 installed on 2 systems, one with an i5-11400, 16gb of memory and plenty of storage, the other with an AMD Ryzen and 16gb of memory. Neither will resume from suspend if suspended for more than about 5 minutes regardless of how many or how few programs are loaded. By way of test I shutdown all programs and suspended. When I went to resume I got the sign-on screen which showed my username and asked for the password. When I entered the password the system responded with invalid password. Both systems behave the same way.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
