External Hard Drive | Booting Ubuntu or different pc

ma flag

my first question here. I've browsed a lot these days but i cant figure out the best solution for me.

I have access to 3 different pc.

1. Notebook Windows Intel i5 without dedicated GPU (secure boot enabled) 2. Notebook Windows Intel i5 with nvidia 1050ti 3. Desktop Windows AMD Ryzen 5 with nvidia 1070

My goal is to be able to boot my external hard drive (a NVME 500gb with adapter for usbc connection).

Also, when everything will work, ill create a second boot partition on my nmve with another windows 10/11 (that's because on my first pc (a), i can't run anything outside my job's stuff).

My actual setup is a Ubuntu 21 single boot, that work on all 3 pc yet. The problem is the i have to enable nviadia gpu driver if i'm on nvidia gpu pc. And in this case, if i move my drive to the gpuless pc, it will not boot (i had to reinstall ubuntu with bootable usb installation).

If there is an way to add a grub voice that automatically enable/disable nvidia driver and move to xorg driver whould be amazing.

Thanks to all in advance

Have you tried adding nomodeset as boot parameter for system without nVidia? And Windows is licensed for one system only and typically just does not work from USB drives.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
