Activation of network connection failed, DHCP timeout

be flag

After a few hours of trial and error, i guess i need some help...

Problem is the following: I am trying to connect to a WIFI network, which has worked for me for the last three months and started to make trouble just three days ago. 19 out of 20 times I try to connect, i get "Activation of network connection failed", 1 out of 20 times it works for some reason. This problem only occurs on my Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS, on my phone aswell as other peoples devices it works without problems.

From the output of sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog I assume that the DHCP fails:

These are the parts that i think are relevant, if more info is needed please tell me.

What confuses me the most is, that it actually works every now and then. But unfortunately I could not identify anything specific when it worked. Additionally, I know that my laptop works with other WIFIs perfectly, and once again I can't identify anything that would hint at a solution for my problem. This is the reason why I haven't tried the numerous suggestions from other "Activation of network connection failed"-Questions on SE, since my case therefore seems to differ from these. (And i didn't want to risk completely cutting of my laptp from the internet (I don't have LAN available), which would make asking this question rather difficult)

Any help would be greatly apreciated!

Try resetting your WiFi router / modem.

Would you add output of `sudo lshw -c network` and also see if `iw event -t` gives more debugging info. Btw, 2nd DHCP in the network may create same behavior some machines can't connect, See if static IP works?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
