Windows and Ubuntu on different hard drives, how do i manually add windows to grub

cn flag

I installed Linux Ubuntu on a normal sata harddrive in my computer, but Windows 11 runs on an nvme harddrive instead of the sata. I'm tired of manually going to my pcs built in boot menu to go to Ubuntu. How do I manually add an option for Windows in grub.

Are you using UEFI? Do you have an EFI partition on both drives?

Some versions of Ubuntu now have turned off os-prober which adds Windows entry to grub menu for security reasons. Os-prober now turned off by default Dec 2021 https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2469993 If both installs are UEFI, then you just need to copy a Windows UEFI boot stanza into 40_custom. Or turn on os-prober, run once & turn off. Save Windows boot stanza from grub.cfg. https://askubuntu.com/questions/661947/add-windows-10-to-grub-os-list?rq=1 & https://askubuntu.com/questions/659528/grub-menu-with-windows-10-and-ubuntu-14-04/659910#659910

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
