Bitlocker stopping Ubuntu installation

cn flag

I am trying to install Ubuntu on a new Dell with Windows 11. I have created the USB boot disk and all goes well until it tells me that BitLocker needs to be deactivated. I have logged back into Windows but there is no reference to BitLocker in the Device Encryption section of the Control Panel. Only OS (C): and the sole option is 'back up your recovery key'. I have done that in the hope it would change something, but nothing has changed. Still nowhere to turn off BitLocker :-(

While in Windows shrink one or more partitions to make room (unallocated space, NOT another partition) for Ubuntu. That should be enough to avoid the problem. If not then ask at superuser.com how to (temporarily disable Bitlocker in Windows 11 as such questions are obviously off-topic here.

Thanks I will try that.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
