Dell Precision M4600 - onBoard Microphone not Working

cn flag

Below is is the command-line devices I have;

(base) s***@syncserve:~$ cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec
Codec: IDT 92HD90BXX

(base) s***@syncserve:~$ lspci | grep Audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04)
01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 High Definition Audio Controller (rev ff)

The problem is the microphone does not work on, though on all the management interfaces, there is always a default microphone showing, and in the top-left bar for sound, the mic signal indicator is available but does not respond to sound input test.

One thing I know is that I have never installed the audio drivers for the above hardware devices since I set up the laptop; how do I install the drivers for the mic?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
