As the title suggests: I cannot install any updates on Ubuntu Studio 21.10 due to libgcc-s1 (please help; i just made the switch from MS win 10 to Ubuntu Studio; a noobie)

This happened when I was trying to install opera which did not work. I searched for a fix and I think I downgraded my version of libgcc-s1

I have tried all of the recommended troubleshooting like

sudo apt --fix-broken install
sudo update
sudo upgrade

etc

But still the same problem. I run into the following type of error message:

dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/libgcc-s1_11.2.0-7ubuntu2_amd64.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite shared '/usr/share/doc/libgcc-s1', which is different from other instances of package libgcc-s1:amd64
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libgcc-s1_11.2.0-7ubuntu2_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I kindly appreciate any help and have included a screenshot

Your question is already answered here: [dpkg error: "trying to overwrite file, which is also in..."](https://askubuntu.com/questions/176121/dpkg-error-trying-to-overwrite-file-which-is-also-in)

Ubuntu Studio is a desktop system, thus is *year.month* in format. Ubuntu has both *year.month* and *year* releases and they are different products (the *year* products are *snap* only and cannot use `dpkg` or `apt` like commands) so 20 & 20.04 are different systems; likewise your likely 21.10 is very different to a 21 system (*if it existed; it does not*). Please be precise with details.

If you have additional detail; please edit your question & add the output of commands etc there, as there are greater formatting options (thus it's far easier to read; you can use {code} tags for pastes). Comments are very difficult to read (*others can help with the formatting of questions/answers too; comments can only be deleted*)

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
