sudo hibernate vs. sudo systemctl hibernate

ke flag

On Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop default install I have followed instructions how to enable hibernation using swap file. Everything was fine until last command:

sudo systemctl hibernate

My laptop just has got black screen without any text displayed and after few seconds laptop completely powered off. But when I pressed power button and logged into Ubuntu all windows were closed down. It looks to me power-off was performed without hibernation.

I was playing around and typed in command:

sudo hibernate

Similar laptop got black screen, but after few seconds percentage counter appeared and after few seconds when 100% appeared, laptop powered off. After pressing power on button and logged into Ubuntu all the program windows stay opened, so hibernation really worked.

My question: What is the difference between this two commands? And why "systemctl hibernate" does not work in my case?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
