The file chooser in some apps gives an option 'customised files' or 'all files' - how to set default?

The file chooser in some apps gives an option selector button down in the bottom right marked 'customised files' or 'all files'.

The specific problem that this creates is as follows. My digital camera saves files with the JPG extension. When I want to upload those images e.g. with Google Chrome, they don't appear in the chooser window until I select 'all files'. So by default, the chooser only recognises files with .jpg as being valid, not .JPG.

I want the default to be 'all files' as this problem happens in other cases e.g. .pdf v .PDF. However, I would also accept being able to redefine the file type identifier or handler to recognise both upper and lower case extensions.

Any ideas?

Good question, but I think this is defined during the call of the program for that common open dialog, so likely this is hard coded.

I can't even find a reference on the internet to the 'customised files' button. It's like it doesn't exist. But there it is. If I knew what it was called, that might help.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
