different pasting behaviour in terminal

us flag

I used 20.04 for a while, but recently upgraded to 21.10. In 20.04, I could paste multiple lines of code into a terminal, and each line would appear as they were executed. This would begin as soon as I pressed "V" in the pasting shortcut.

In 21.10, various portions of the copied code appears when I press "V", and nothing executes until I press Enter. I much prefer how things worked in 20.04 - are there any settings I can change to restore that behavior/workflow?

Indeed, this change was introduced in Ubuntu 21.10 as a safety feature, where something that is pasted is not immediately executed. This likely cannot be changed without editing source code (unless another answer on this comes around.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
