Why public ip doesn't work on ubuntu server installed on virtualbox

ec flag

I used to setup my own server on ubuntu server dual boot with windows and it was working well.

I can launch the aapanel (something like cpanel) and it worked well too, but i tried to install Ubuntu server on virtualbox on windows 10 and i could install the panel but it only work with local ip.

I changed the panel to cyberpanel but it has the same problem http://mypublicipaddress:8888 doesn't work, but http://mylocalip:8888 works.

Has anyone met this problem before and if he could actually solve it can he tell me how?

Just to confirm, you’re running Ubuntu Server in VirtualBox *on Windows*, yes?

yes, on windows 10

You may want to check that Windows is properly forwarding the traffic, and that you’re using a bridged adapter for the VM with its “Promiscuous mode” set to “Allow All”.

I haven't used Windows in any real capacity since 2012 and this particular SE site is dedicated to Ubuntu Linux. You may find some answers at [Microsoft Community](https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/site/completesignin?silent=True&returnUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fanswers.microsoft.com%2Fen-us&wa=wsignin1.0), though

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
