Package has no installation candidate + Reading package lists... Done

mm flag

I initially had this error when attempting to install haskell. E: Unable to locate package haskell-platform. I followed a couple of stack-overflow posts + forums that told me to do a few thing including going to "Software & Updates" app and unchecking all checkboxes in "Other Software Tab". As well as going to /etc/apt/sources.list.d and deleting its content (sudo rm vscode...)

Now however when I type sudo apt-get update I get a single line saying, Reading package lists... Done

and when I try to install something such as firfox, I get the following error E: Package 'firefox' has no installation candidate

It seems I have really messed things up, any idea how to fix this? I have tried doing what a lot of posts has said, but nothing seems to work.

I am using ubuntu 20.04 Content in sources/apt/sources.list.d : Nothing Content in sources/apt/source.list : Nothing

The problem with trying "what a lot of posts ha[ve] said" is that they seldom explain the consequences of their actions. Could you [edit] your question to include: (0) the version of Ubuntu you're using (1) the current content of `/etc/apt/sources.list` and a list of files in `/etc/apt/sources.list.d`? With this, it may be possible to reverse out some of what's been done

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
