Ubuntu and the applications takes too much time to boot

it flag

I have Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS dualbooted on my MSI GL65 Leopard 10SEK and it takes more than a minute to boot. This is my usual boot time

systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 4.922s (kernel) + 1min 168ms (userspace) = 1min 5.091s
graphical.target reached after 53.880s in userspace

Not only this but the applications also take alot of time to start. Ex: Firefox itsef takes around more than 10 second to start. VS code takes around 20~30 seconds. Any idea how can i makemy system faster???

It would be beneficial to add more details about hardware. Is Ubuntu installed to a mechanical hard drive or a SSD? What CPU do you have? How much physical RAM is installed? Are you using the default installation options, or did you do something different (swap partition? home partition?)

If you are using a mechanical spinning hard drive, then the times you are describing are not unusual. Application launches usually retrieve data stored all over the drive. System boot involves launching *several* applications. A mechanical hard drive has to physically seek to all of these different areas. These kinds of reads are called "random reads" and HDDs perform very poorly at random reads. If your computer has a SSD, you should install the OS there.

My laptop has an SSD, but it has windows installed there... And it's just 256 gb

256GB is enough for both, especially if you use space wisely. The minimum recommendation for Ubuntu Desktop is 25GB and Windows is OK even on 64GB (though it can bloat a lot and Windows software is heavier). If you are going to have Ubuntu on a much slower HDD, you're going to have to live with the limitations of your hardware

Some settings that may improve boot time. https://askubuntu.com/questions/1284302/is-it-possible-to-make-ubuntu-20-04-boot-faster

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
