Installing Windows in my 2TB HDD

ca flag

I have Ubuntu 20.04 in my SSD and I was thinking of maybe shrinking the ext4 partition of my HDD, making a new partition and putting Windows there, will this work?

I get that Ubuntu is on the SSD, and you want Windows on the HDD. Do you have anything important on the HDD?

yes, I don't want to lose all the files that I've got there, that's why I was thinking about making a small partition

*I don't want to lose all the files that I've got there* so you have backups, right? Even experienced users make mistakes and $hit happens all the time. If you don't have backups and especially because you're asking this question then those files can't be important. And installing Windows, regardless of the configuration, is a question apt for superuser.com, not here.

If UEFI which all systems in last 10 years are, Windows should install in UEFI boot mode. And if drive is MBR, the conversion to gpt will erase all partitions on drive. And Windows in UEFI Mode wants lots of partitions. Is Ubuntu installed in UEFI boot mode or BIOS with MBR?

I’m voting to close this question because it has nothing to do with Ubuntu.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
