LightDM-GTK-Greeter external indicator

pk flag

I've seen the "External library/service" indicator option in lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings, (which seems to put the indicator in lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf without a ~ prepended) and I am intrigued. I would ideally like to have the output of a command posted to the top of my panel, but I cannot figure out how this works. I've tried providing it the path to a simple echo script as a test, with no effect. I've tried providing the path to ayatana indicators with it, with the same effect. I'm not quite sure what format it wants.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
