Ubuntu subsystem 20.04 is getting automatically uninstalled from Windows 10

Can someone help me here with how to fix this issue - Ubuntu subsystem 20.04 is getting automatically uninstalled from Windows 10.

While reinstalling sometimes it will get installed from scratch, but sometimes it will retain the previously installed apps and files.

Welcome to Ask Ubuntu! When you posted this on Stack Overflow (now closed), I commented that you should take a look at [this answer](https://superuser.com/a/1701753/1210833) before reposting. Have you tried those suggestions? If so, please edit your question with what you've tried so far and what hasn't worked. Also check out the [How do I ask a good question](https://askubuntu.com/help/how-to-ask) page -- Specifically "Search, and research ...". It's helpful to understand what you've tried (regardless of the source) in order to avoid repeating suggestions that you've already tried. Thanks!

This... is going to be a Windows problem. Ubuntu either does not install or installs. But installing and then uninstalling is not possible.

*Note: Please remember please edit your question with additional information.* Some additional questions -- (a) When you say that it gets uninstalled, is that *just* Ubuntu, or is that all of WSL? In other words, when this happens, does the `wsl` command itself still work? (b) Also, what exactly makes you think it is uninstalled in these cases? If it is retaining the apps and files, it wasn't uninstalled. (c) Do any other Microsoft Store apps get uninstalled when this happens?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
