Barcode scanner randomly skips numbers after update

pl flag

So I upgraded my work computer from 16.04 to 18.04. It's great!

But now the barcode scanner I use for entering product is skipping numbers, which has never happened before. The scanner was a standard cheapo amazon purchase that says BARCODE on it and came with a bluetooth dongle, but a total workhorse for entering data into a spreadsheet!

Figured it was aging and decided to get a higher end scanner, Socket Mobile s740. Using it in keyboard mode for number entry, same problem.

Brought my Windows 10 laptop in and tested both scanners using the same bluetooth dongle. Hundreds of test scans, both scanners passed with 100% accuracy. Never had this problem with 16.04 either... Could it be the number entry is too fast?

Don't know if this matters, but the main difference I notice is, in Ubuntu 18.04 and 16.04, how do I explain this... The numbers appear quickly one by one in a string, verses in windows, the whole string of numbers just appears.

Someone had a similar post about this but with 14.04.

Open to any suggestions!

Thanks.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
