ubuntu 20.04 screen recorder dconf-editor vs gsettings

in flag

I am trying to use the Ubuntu 20.04 default screen recorder. I use the shortcut Ctr+Alt+Shift+R when I need to record my screen.

As some may know, the default max-length is 30s for the recording.

I did a few researches on how to fix this time limit. A lot of people were suggesting to use

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys max-screencast-length 0

Unfortunately this did not work. Despite the fact that:

gsettings get org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys max-screencast-length

would return 0 meaning that the value was effectively updated.

However manually changing the max-screencast-length value with the help of the dconf-editor did work.

Can someone please explain to me:

  1. why the first solution did not work? Was gsettings not updating the correct profile ?
  2. What to do in order to efficiently change the max-screencast-length using gsettings CLI command instead of dconf-editor GUI?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
