Veracrypt installed but "failed to obtain administrator priviledges"

dz flag

I have Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS. I installed Veracrypt Debian 11 package through the official download page of Veracrypt. The installation worked, but they i can't mount volume.

I did check "do not use kernel cryptographic service". I did uninstall and install the app. I did type sudo apt-get install dmsetup. Nothing works.

When i try to mount a veracrypt volume, it always fails with this message popping up "failed to obtain administration privileges: sorry try again". Then I try again and the message that comes is "operation failed due to incorrect password/incorrect volume pim number/incorrect PRF (hash)/not a valid volume". No need to say that i manage to mount this volume on any other Windows computer.

Did anybody find another way and can explain what he/she did step by step please ? thanks

Bugs are off-topic here. Please [edit your question](https://askubuntu.com/posts/1395345/edit) and indicate how exactly you installed veracrypt including where you downloaded the files from. If you used a PPA then indicate which PPA you used. Also include which distro and version of Linux you are using.

I suggest you uninstall the Debian 11 package. Scroll down in the [Verascript official download page](https://www.veracrypt.fr/en/Downloads.html) and look for downloads specific for Ubuntu 20.04.

And, anyway, the errors reported suggest wrong passwords, either the sudo password or the VC volume password or both.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
