Does this answer your question? [How do I fix this "E: Type '\*' is not known on line \* in source list ..." update error?](https://askubuntu.com/questions/96967/how-do-i-fix-this-e-type-is-not-known-on-line-in-source-list-update)

You've not provided release details; but your error messages tells you the line number, and file which contains the error so you can fix it. The directory `/etc/apt/sources.list.d/` is empty on a new Ubuntu install; so someone with `sudo` access has added the error to your system. The line (*we cannot see unless it's provided to us*) mentioned in the error contains an error. Type *gpg* isn't valid for that file.

Sharing the contents of `/etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release.list` in your question would be good start for anyone to be able to help.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
