Is it OK to add space to a logical volume while it is being used heavily?

mx flag

The existing logical volume on my server is being used extensively (TBs of data being copied to the logical volume) therefore the logical volume is filling up. Soon it will be full, so I want to add new space to it.

Is it OK to do it while the copying in progress?

Generally, no. This comes down to the limitations of the file system and how often the attributes of a storage device are validated. Generally this happens only at the time a device is mounted. If the storage device is external, such as on a SAN, then you may be able to invisibly expand the storage pool allowing the copies to finish. However, this is highly dependent on how you’ve built and configured your sever.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
