Disable microphone access for a specific desktop application

cn flag

I installed the latest version (18.2.0.2) of Viber from the .deb package provided at https://www.viber.com/en/download/

After installing the new version, I noticed that Viber uses the microphone all the time. This is not something I would like.

My specific question is: How can I prevent Viber from using the microphone?

However a general more useful question would be: Is there a way to prevent (forbid) a specific Ubuntu Desktop application to use the microphone?

Update: On the Internet I have seen some references to Microphone under Privacy in GNOME Control Center. However, my system does not have a Microphone option under Privacy in GNOME Control Center. And, yes, the microphone is configured and working properly right now.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
