computer stops posting after installing ubuntu 20.04.5

sy flag

I was reinstalling ubuntu because the first time grub didnt show and didnt boot. Towards the end it mentioned some software couldnt be installed i would have to install manually, i reached the part when it asked to remove installation media when it froze. Nothing happened when i pressed enter so i just powered off the pc.

The symptoms: From what i can tell it doesnt post anymore, blank screen all round, no beeps no matter what i do(remove ram, cpu, swapped graphics cards, whatever). When the pc did post, it beep because it was informing me of fan failure(i remove a fan)hit f1 for setup f2 to resume. Post code on the motherboard would usually jump around till it settled on 62 or 29 depending how you look at it, meaning a successful boot.

Note: This happened to the previous motherboard, i had a working ubtuntu install running fine till i upgraded to 22 and hated it so i reinstalled 20.04.5. At the time i though the motherboard just died cause it was old, till the exact same thing happen to the new one and while installing ubuntu. While ubuntu possibly had no hand in this, I thought i document this because it is quite a wacky coincidence. If someone does knows what happened to my pc that would be cool though.

The Power On Self Test (POST) is the first thing a computer does at powerup, before any attempt at loading bootloaders or OSes. What sort of power surge protection do you have?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
