Ubuntu apt-get update fails with error

sudo apt-get update

gives below error.

I looked up solutions on StackOverflow but nothing seems to work. Any ideas welcome.

It seems you have two problems: 1. Somehow you messed with the python version and 2. You added a PPA (Octave) that has no support for your release.
