No microphone on a Lenovo Thinkpad running Ubuntu 22.04

mu flag

When I navigate to "Sounds" in system settings, there are no options for microphone input.

I've tried pavucontrol and it also detects no options. I've tried adding:

alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=auto

to my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file and rebooting, with no success.

What might be the root cause of my issue and how might I fix it?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
