Ubuntu Studio: installing updates, but no admin password, done in a second

in flag

In Ubuntu Studio 22.04, Discover will tell me it has updates some quantity greater than zero, but list only a single item. When I click "Update All" I'm not prompted for a password and the update happens almost instantly, followed by a prompt to restart. What's happening? Is it actually updating?

Found that the difference between the described behavior and my other PCs was in System Settings -> Software Update.

Update software: Automatically Use offline updates: checked

With those two settings, updates happen much faster, and, yes, the system is updating correctly.

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
