How To Automatically Load Kernel and Initrd for Ubuntu VM

ge flag

Using grub2-bhyve and vmbhyve, I setup an Ubuntu-server-22.04.1 VM on a FreeBSD 12.3 host. The issue is that every time I start the VM I am presented with the Grub CLI and I have to manually load the linux kernel and initrd:

grub> linux (hd0,gpt2)/vmlinuz-5.15.0-52-generic root=/dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-ubuntu--lv
grub> initrd (hd0,gpt2)/initrd.img-5.15.0-52-generic
grub> boot

I was wondering if there is a way to automate this so that grub automatically performs these steps. Also, I don't need a menu table as this will be the only bootable partition. I am essentially just looking to skip the grub interfacing and get straight into Ubuntu.

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
