Typeahead search slowed down in 22.10

th flag

Since a few versions, the gnome file manager ("Files") in Ubuntu has typeahead search across subdirectories: if I start typing some text, it automatically searches for matching files and folders in all subdirectories.

I have noticed a performance regression after updating to 22.10: the search is much slower than it used to be in 22.04 before the update, especially in large folders such as my home directory. Is this known? Is there anything I can do to improve its speed?

Same here. In fact, when typing in the search field, the cursor spins, then when it catches up, the characters in my search entry are jumbled. It is reproducible. Searching for open bugs... This is unusable as it is. EDIT: Raised LP bug @ https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1996652
I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
