ubuntu 18: how to clean nvidia drivers? PKCS#7 signature not signed with a trusted key after switching gpu

pt flag

well well well thought to get myself a nice AMD 6800 xt. I read this forum first to be sure how to switch from a nvidia card to an AMD card.

It said that the best way to get rid of nvidia drivers was: apt purge nvidia-*

so i did... but then i got the PKCS error and a blank screen.

i tried all the suggestions i could find in this website but nothing worked like cleaning packages, reconfigure, reinstalling kdedesktop, fixing packages but the system said it was all ok.

so now i put back my old nvidia card and reinstalled the nvidia drivers. finally i have my gui back but... what is the correct way of replacing an AMD card for a nvidia card without running into to PKCS errors?

update: turned out that the error went away after disabling the gpu on the motherboard, after reboot i got gui on the AMD card but it was in very lowres mode. then i proceeded to install the open source amd drivers (had to enable 32 bit libries though to make it work) and that brought me back to the pkcs#7 error. but, the command line is now in highres when switching to ctrl-alt-F2

so a little progress but stuck again.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
